Well, how did you do? Did you actually review your actions for the last 24 hours?
I did and noticed when I am actively watching my outlook, I’m more glass half full. I think it comes from paying attention to it. It’s easy to get caught up in the negative day to day because we don’t actively view ourselves from a positive perspective.
Granted I semi-quietly snarled at a driver because of their actions, but most of the 24 hours I was able to keep a positive spirit. Part of the learning here is knowing what you can and can not control. For instance, the driver who’s erratic driving is something I can not control. So I could snarl all I want, but can not change how that other driver is feeling or acting today.
It does take an active choice to do positive because of the world we live in. If everything were positive, I suppose it would take effort to think negatively. So keep the challenge alive. Watch yourself for the rest of the week. Catch yourself acting positively. You’ll feel better about yourself, which in turn will rub off on those around you. Ask any of my friends.
Next we’ll look at the traits of self-esteem and later the pressure teenagers live in that drives their self-esteem to all time lows, including thoughts of suicide.
